Entry for March 27, 2008 - I miss my son

Anyone who has read this blog knows how I keep praying that one day the good Lord will bless me with the opportunity to see my son again. It has now been 3 1/2 years since I have had any interaction with him. He is 10 years old now. He will be 11 this summer. Certainly, he is too big for me to carry anymore. I just hope he knows that his father does love him and miss him. I would love to be there for his elementary graduation. I'm sorry, but for some reason, his absence in my life has been impacting me a lot more recently.

This song is what pushed me over the edge today and prompted me to write this. The lyrics of the song impacted me deeply. Christien, like the song says, mi hijo, someday, we'll be together. I love you and I miss you. Never doubt or forget that. Someday... soon.

A piece of advise for women out there, if the father wants to be a part of his child's life, let him. Now every situation is different, and sometimes keeping the child away from them is in the child's best interest, but if you are only doing so out of vindictiveness, or to try to exert some control or superiority over the father, that is just wrong! As much as you love your child, using him/her in that manner does nothing but ultimately hurt your child. How can you think that keeping away someone who loves and cherishes your child for your own selfish reasons not be harmful?

Do you want to know the truth? It hurts, ok? It hurts that I haven't been able to see him grow up, to see his report cards, to expose him to my culture an heritage, to take him to the park, to the beach, to hear him say "Happy Father's Day"(for the last 6 years!), to be a father. You have your revenge. Now can you please stop using our child as a pawn, and let him be a part of my an his older brother's life?

Entry for March 13, 2008 - Michael Korda Quotes

So I have this g-mail account that I use for business, and I usually ignore the single line advertising that they place at the top of the inbox. Sometimes, however, I am compelled to look and I enjoy what I find. A couple of times I have received a Quote of the day. Today, it was a quote from Michael Korda. I clicked on the link to the site, and enjoyed all the quotes he had, so I figured I'd post them here. They all come from Brainyquote.com, I site I would highly recommend if you're looking for a particular quote. Enjoy!

HI Christien, Daddy still loves you and misses you. I think of and pray for you every day, mi hijo. Cuidate y portate bien.

Michael Korda Quotes

Act well at the moment, and you have performed a good action for all eternity.

An ounce of hypocracy is worth a pound of ambition.

Art teaches nothing, except the significance of life.

If you don't believe in yourself, then who will believe in you? The next man's way of getting there might not necessarily work for me, so I have to create my own ways of getting there.

It's not a field, I think, for people who need to have success every day: if you can't live with a nightly sort of disaster, you should get out. I wouldn't describe myself as lacking in confidence, but I would just say that the ghosts you chase you never catch.

Luck can often mean simply taking advantage of a situation at the right moment. It is possible to make your luck by being always prepared.

Men naturally resent it when women take greater liberties in dress than men are allowed.

Never reveal all of yourself to other people; hold back something in reserve so that people are never quite sure if they really know you.

Never walk away from failure. On the contrary, study it carefully and imaginatively for its hidden assets.

One of the first rules of playing the power game is that all bad news must be accepted calmly, as if one already knew and didn't care.

One way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals.

Success has always been easy to measure. It is the distance between one's origins and one's final achievement.

Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility... in the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have... is the ability to take on responsibility.

The biggest fool in the world is he who merely does his work supremely well, without attending to appearance.

The fastest way to succeed is to look as if you're playing by somebody else's rules, while quietly playing by your own.

The freedom to fail is vital if you're going to succeed. Most successful people fail from time to time, and it is a measure of their strength that failure merely propels them into some new attempt at success.

The more you can dream, the more you can do.

The purely agitation attitude is not good enough for a detailed consideration of a subject.

This is true enough, but success is the next best thing to happiness, and if you can't be happy as a success, it's very unlikely that you would find a deeper, truer happiness in failure.

To succeed it is necessary to accept the world as it is and rise above it.

What you hear repeatedly you will eventually believe.

Your chances of success are directly proportional to the degree of pleasure you desire from what you do. If you are in a job you hate, face the fact squarely and get out.

Entry for March 05, 2008, Quote for the Day

"Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."
– Virginia Satir

Christien, Daddy is still loving and missing you. I still have faith that God will see fit for us to be together again. Until then, be safe, mi hijo, and behave yourself.
